Wawakale is a small reservoir located in the Wawakale area of Walapane. Fed by water from the springs of Wawakale, this small lake is a very beautiful place. Interestingly, Wawakale translates to “lake forest” in Sinhala.
Surrounded by a small forest on three sides and a small clay road on the other, the Wawakale lake borders the road. On the opposite side, there’s a Helmalu rice paddy that creates a beautiful view.
A sluice gate is built to release excess water, which supplies water to the lower paddies.
