Where is the flood plains national park is situated?

The longest river of the island, the Mahaweli River, is the primary attachment the plains have got. The walk along the park is always a trip along the Mahaweli river with the tremendous endeavor to get some fabulous sights to the eyes.

Size of the Park

The park also consists of a 378 km²  land area.  with plenty of water sources made of rainwater. Situated in Polonnaruwa district, The Flood Plains National Park has allowed the travelers to get into the territory via Manampitiya-Yakkure junction. Most importantly, you have to get out of the park from another exit as it is the most professional way. The exit way lies on the Damane Gama, Nuwaragala, and Pallekale.

Walk along the river

As it is a walk by the river, you will get plenty of sceneries that can be enjoyed as a tourist. When it comes to professionalism, you will mind having some embracing and unique decors made by wildlife.

Wildlife

Although the park is one of the best places to see the natural habitat of the Asian Elephants, you will love having the company of other natural features as well.  Flood Plains National Park is the home for thousands of wildlife species, including endemic reptiles and birds. Also, you will find some exotic plants in this place.

Other than the Wasgamuwa national park, Flood Plains National Park will be the next place to observe the elephants’ habitat in the semi-aquatic nature, made with the water and pasture.

Photography worthy

As a photographer, you will find some nice clicks for your satisfaction. In the middle area of the forest, the sightseeing will serve you the erected view of the Mahaweli river, making valleys along the journey.  However, the elevation varies from 20m-60m as well.
