2021 Pilgrims season to Sri Pada is about to be commenced

The 2020-2021 pilgrims season to Sri Pada is about to be commenced under heavy health regulations. It has been decided that it will take place on 27th December with the commencement of a special auspicious time on Uduwap Full Moon Poya day.  Because of the COVID19 pandemic situation the country has faced at the moment. The health authorities are going to work to regulate the season according to heavy health measures with limited entries.

The Lord Buddha’s Holy Casket

The Lord Buddha’s Holy Casket, the statue of God Saman, and sacred objects will be brought to the upper Maluwa of Sri Pada on the same date via 04 routes. Only 200 men will be allowed to function with 50 men per team. These decisions have been made at the meeting on “The commencement of Sri Pada season” held with the Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thero, the Chief incumbent of Sri Pada. Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Tikiri Kobbakaduwa has also taken part in the meeting. It was decided that it is essential to be submitted a certificate by devotes obtained by the attorney’s general office in their area as well.
