Beginning August 20, SpiceJet, the Indian budget airline, is all set to inaugurate flight services connecting Madurai in India with Colombo. This decision, confirmed in July through the airline’s official online booking system, will see flights operational six days a week, with the exception of Wednesdays, between Madurai and Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake, Colombo. SpiceJet is optimistic that this direct flight service will significantly contribute to the enhancement of tourism between the two nations.
Notably, travel data provider OAG, headquartered in the United Kingdom, has indicated that SriLankan Airlines will also be participating on this route, adding to the air connectivity options between Madurai and Colombo.
