Ambuluwawa Biodiversity Complex, Gampola is one of the most famous day outing locations in Sri Lanka.

Located in Up Country, Ambuluwawa temple is a blessing to Buddhists, where thousands of devotees visit this place. Ambuluwawa temple, Ambuluwawa Biodiversity Complex, and Ambuluwawa Trigonometrical Station are the things that a tourist can watch along with nature’s blessing. However, the place has been dedicated to all the religions along with their significant cultural monuments.  The Amubuluwawa temple is situated in Gampola, 25km far from Kandy, the capital of Central province.

History of the Ambuluwawa

Gampola itself had been considered as a Kingdom in Ancient Sri Lanka when King Bhuwanekabhahu IV ruled in the 13th century. Including the Ambuluwawa site, the area still bears the pride of the 13th-century kingdom. Security had been the main concern when King Bhuwanekhabahu IV moved the Kingdom to Gampola. The natural mount ranges had built the necessary protection for his kingdom. Even at present, the same natural features will be available for a tourist to see. Surrounded by the mountains, covered with the mist most of the time, Gampola will be a tremendous place for a glance.

Why Ambuluwawa is popular?

Although Amubuluwawa is popular due to its three main features, all of them are bound with nature making one huge attraction. Being the number one place, Ambuluwawa sneak point is a great way to start the entertainment. After getting to the top, the surrounding will be embracingly enjoyable. The panoramic view of the area will make a picturesque paint-like scenery with a smoky mist. Waterfall,s reservoirs, tea estates, and several natural additions will be seen across the central hills. Amapola town is an elevated point from sea level. When it comes to the Ambuluwawa sneak point, it has raised 1060 ft from the town as well.

Because of the peoples’ passion for visiting Ambuluwawa, the government introduced a biodiversity complex in 2009 to fulfill the satisfaction of the tourists. Provided with a temple, kovil, mosque, and a church on the peak, it has been providing its contribution for all types of religious devotees. Therefore, it is considered a symbol of harmony and the unity of Sri Lanka as well. Although anyone can enter the premises, it is a must not wear footwear.

Making it a more religious place than a biodiversity-concerned place, you may enjoy all the religious places an interested person. When it comes to religious monuments, the Stupa of Buddhists has the highest attraction. The Bo tree is one of the attractions which has been grown as a sapling from Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya. Buddha statue and the tribute to the Sacred Foot Print at Adam’s peak are the rest of the attractions a visitor may enjoy.
