Galle Face Beach
The Sunset paradise in Western Colombo
Located in the west of Colombo, the Galle Face Ground is popular with both local and foreign tourists. In the evenings, people from all walks of life come to the galle face , to enjoy the spectacular sunset views while having delicious Street Food.

 History
 The first heard fact about galleface was the about the Fortress, named St. Perot,built by a Portuguese General, George Almeida. In the 17th century, the Galle Face Ground was the site where convicts were hanged by the Dutch court.
 The grounds were systematically designed by British Governor Edward Barnes and a one-mile runway lane for horse racing was also constructed in the ground. The golf sport was later introduced to the galle face and the first Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, DS Senanayake, known to be dead in the galle face ground due to a fall from the horse back.Â
