Unawatuna Beach
Unawatuna is the best place worth visiting for many reasons. If you are looking for a nice place full of good accommodation, with beeches full of palm trees, and food, Unawatuna will be the play you should be looking for. Unawatuna is the best beach in the world according to the Discovery channel once. Unawatuna has been turned ill-appealing by the irregular constructions done by the locals who are only willing to earn money from the tourists. There are lots of structures that screen the view of the bay. But, local authorities, as well as tourism authorities, have stood against them and many regulations have been brought to control the effect. Japanese Peace Pagoda
This is a pagoda built by Japan. Japanese Peace Pagoda was built in 2005. This pagoda is run by a friendly Japanese Monk who is willing to share his knowledge with you. There is a nice and lovely 360 panorama view in this pagoda. If you manage to get there it will be a nice time alone as this is not what most of the tourists are used to visit.
Jungle Beach Unawatuna
You will not be allowed to have a tuk-tuk ride to reach this awesome place as you have to walk to this place. There is a path of 2km to reach Jungle Beach. You may call this path along the walk a hike as well. There will be a forest-like environment that will keep you almost busy along the walk with its nature’s surprises.
After your 2km walk is finished, you will end up with the most beautiful beach which is surrounded by the forest. Jungle Beach words will imply you an impression like a cartoonish looking impression in your mind. I would say that those words are worth this place. Crystal clear like water and evergreen nature will remind you the heaven for sure. You will feel that you are disconnected from the outer world and nice surroundings will make you calm in just a few minutes.
Yatala Raja Maha Viharaya
This is a must-go place in Unawatuna. If you spend an entire day this must be a place you should visit. Local tourists visit this place inspired by Buddhism as well as the ancient culture as well. Although you are a foreigner or not, you will be satisfied Reith the decision to visit this place if you visit Yatagala Raja Maha Viharaya. This temple tells you the ancient religion if this country with its paintings on the walls. They belong to the Kandyan paint styles and believe to have drawn a long time ago.
Sri Lankan history records state that monks have been living and doing their religious accomplishments for over 1500 years ago. If you are at the top of the temple premises, you will see a nice picture of the surrounding with paddy fields as well. What you have to do to reach this temple is to get a ride inland for 4km.
Rumassala Jungle
This jungle will be a place where you haven’t even though you would ever see in Galle. There are herbs and medicinal plants where you will never be able to find not only in any other country but also in any place in Sri Lanka. Scientists believe that this place is quite different from any other place in Sri Lanka when considering as well as biotic and A-biotic factors as well. Some believe that this is a part of an asteroid that has touched the ground million years ago.
Legend about Roomassala
Legends say that this is apart from the Ramayana. It is said that after Rama got injured, Hanumantha was assigned to find the rare medicinal plants from Himalaya (Everest). Then he couldn’t find that plant and he’s brought the entire part from Himalaya. After the particular plant was found, Hanumantha has thrown the jungle part back to Himalaya and a part of that has fallen in Unawatuna. Though what legends state, it will be worth to have a visit to Rumassala if you like to have a change.
