The Nawalapitiya railway station is located in the Kandy district of Sri Lanka. It was built in 1864 by the British during their colonial rule of the island. The station was originally part of the Main Line which ran from Colombo to Nanu Oya. However, with the construction of a new line from Nawalapitiya to Ella in 1894, the station became a junction point for two lines.
